An Appomattox County native, Jason joined the cooperative after spending recent years as an independent consultant for the Virginia agriculture industry, working on issues ranging from the environment, land use and general agriculture. He is the former executive director of the Virginia Cattlemen’s Association, the commonwealth’s largest beef cattle association. In that capacity, he was the primary legislative liaison for the Virginia cattle and meat industry, working closely with representatives across various business sectors.

Before joining the cattlemen’s association, Jason was a Virginia Cooperative Extension agent in Augusta County, specializing in animal science. He worked extensively in the areas of livestock marketing and beef production systems evaluation and helped lead area 4-H and FFA livestock education. Jason is a Virginia Tech graduate who holds a bachelor's degree in animal science and a master's in agriculture.
