Speaker Bio
Boyd Lee is a 42 year veteran of 3 electric cooperatives and 1 G&T, all in Oklahoma. A major part of his career at each cooperative has been devoted to the installation of geothermal heating and cooling systems. He is currently VP of Strategic Planning for CKenergy Electric Cooperative, where he has been for 18 years.
During his time with CKenergy, he has trained in Cost of Service and Rate Design. Using that training, he has developed unique rate structures which allow the cooperative to absorb the long-term costs of geothermal installations while realizing immediate purchased power savings and margins on the coop’s financial bottom line. He has pioneered several “outside the box” marketing concepts resulting in about 1800 free geo ground loop installations. He was presented with the VISION Award by the Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives for his marketing concepts; a Governor Frank Keating appointee as Commissioner for the Oklahoma Tourism Department; and being named one of 10 “Outstanding Young Oklahomans” in 1997. He and his wife of 40 years, Susie, live in rural Chickasha, OK. And he DOES use geothermal in his own home.
