Melissa Gay is Vice President of Communications and Member Services at Central Virginia Electric Cooperative (CVEC) and Central Virginia Services, Inc. (CVSI) dba Firefly Fiber Broadband (Firefly). Firefly is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CVEC. Melissa started her career at CVEC in 2015, serving as Executive Team Assistant before being promoted to Communications and Member Services Manager and, eventually, Vice President.
In 2018, Melissa began her work with Firefly and has played an integral role in building the Firefly brand and preserving its reputation in the community and marketplaces. Melissa and her team were recognized in 2024 with five communication awards from NRECA Spotlight on Excellence and with two from the Cooperative Communicators Association. Firefly achieved an American Satisfaction Index score of 90 for 2023, which was the second highest level of customer satisfaction in the nation among Touchstone Energy cooperatives.
Prior to joining CVEC, Melissa worked at a local nuclear engineering firm and in higher education as Director of Alumnae Relations at her beloved alma mater, Sweet Briar College.
